“The Old Forest Path” is a picture book set in an ancient forest, where fairies are told to follow a meandering, time-worn path. One day, a fairy who loves to dance meets a piper whose music is unlike anything she’s ever heard. As they are drawn to each other, the enchanted forest path begins to melt away, leading the fairies into the unknown.
As the illustrator, I drew deeply from my lifelong love of fantasy, fairies, and the natural world. The atmosphere and style of the Golden Age of Illustration were also a great source of inspiration. It was a deeply meaningful project that gave me the chance to explore themes and imagery close to my heart.
The artwork blends traditional and digital media, including watercolour, acrylics, coloured pencils, pastels, leaf stamps, and digital edits.
Although this is a picture book, it also speaks to adult readers who love fairy tales. I hope it offers a moment of enchantment, no matter your age.
